Company was originally formed at the end of the 19th century as BETTS BROTHERS. This was a firm which contracted their services to local businesses e.g. dredging the local rivers, threshing corn and baling straw for the local farmers. The company then disbanded and the Betts brothers went their own way. William Henry Betts however continued the threshing business until his death in 1954. His son Ernest Gordon Betts continued the company and progressed into lorries to deliver the straw around the country e.g. the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace was one very thought of customer.
